THE DOPENESS OF DETROIT: PART 5
DETROIT ARTISTS MARKET
Serving as one of the oldest non-profit organization in the Midwest, the Detroit Artists Market was founded in the midst of the Great Depression in the 1930’s. The creation of this gallery came about when a group of local artists realized that local creators needed a place to produce and sell their work. The DAM is one of many galleries in Detroit that encourages a vibrant artistic community by exhibiting, selling and promoting the work of emerging and established artists. The DAM is known for hosting exhibits that are trendsetting and controversial, challenging the public perception of art. The DAM is currently celebrating their 80th anniversary! In celebration, they are hosting a special exhibition that focuses on their history and undying love and support of local artists and their craft.
